FTSE CLOSE: Sky soars 27% on 21stC Fox bid

The FTSE 100 index at the close was up 22.66 at 6954.21. Shares in media giant Sky soared 27 per cent after it revealed it has been in takeover talks with its biggest shareholder 21st Century Fox.
