Merkel: Germany Must Increase Defence Expenditures

Germany has to increase defence expenditures to 2% of GDP of the country, stated German chancellor Angela Merkel, reported Reuters.

Merkel, however, does not expect this target to be reached any time soon.

“Our defence budget shows that we have not reached the point where we should be, if we are talking about the expectations of our partners in NATO,” explained the Chancellor in a speech to the Bundestag.
