Bulgaria's Socialists Not Negotiating on Support in Presidential Elections
The Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) leader Korneliya Ninova has said she will not seek support from any other political organization for the upcoming presidential vote.
The BSP's candidate, Maj Gen Rumen Radev, is not supported by other left-wing parties, who pulled out of talks with socialists in the summer, nominating their own candidates.
"For the second round, we will turn to all Bulgarian citizens," Ninova has told bTV station.
Ninova has downplayed suggestions that a brawl in Parliament earlier this week was part of an election campaign, making clear the motion of no confidence demanded by her party is on foreign policy, including the decision to replace the Bulgarian nomination for UN Secretary General.
"We are in talks with the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (DPS) and Alternative for Bulgarian Revival (ABV)," Ninova has added, in a reference to the prepared motion.
