Woman bust with 48kg of cocaine and R701 000
The Durban flying squad narcotics task team have arrested a 30-year-old woman and seized cocaine worth R3m and R701 000 in cash.
|||Durban - The Durban flying squad narcotics task team have arrested a 30-year-old woman and seized 48kg of cocaine and a large amount of cash, KwaZulu-Natal police said on Saturday.
More arrests were expected to be made in this case, Lt-Col Thulani Zwane said.
The officers were conducting crime prevention duties on Friday night when they followed up information about drugs in the Durban central business district.
They proceeded to a flat on the fourth floor of a building in the CBD, where they found 48kg of cocaine with an estimated street value of R3 million. Officers also seized R701 000 in cash.
“The dedicated team will continue to get rid of drugs in and around Durban to make sure that it does not reach our youth. We also appeal to the community to continue working together with the police in fighting drugs in the province,” Zwane said.
The arrested woman would appear in the Durban Magistrate's Court on Monday.
