Guesthouse owner held for harbouring illegal immigrant
Controversial Sodwana Bay Guest House owner, Andre Slade, was arrested and released on a warning for harbouring an illegal immigrant.
|||Durban - Controversial Sodwana Bay Guest House owner, Andre Slade, was arrested on Monday and released on a warning for harbouring an illegal immigrant.
He appeared on Tuesday in the Ubombo Magistrate’s Court. National Prosecuting Authority’s Natasha Ramkisson-Kara said he was released on a warning.
This comes after the New Age reported that his Slovakian-born partner, Katarina Krizani, was arrested for contravening the Immigrations Act.
Andre Slade hit the news earlier this year when he rejected a booking for a woman and her 12 cousins because he did not accommodate “blacks or government employees any longer”.
This released a furious reaction from the public as Economic, Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs MEC, Sihle Zikalala, launched a criminal case against Slade.
The ANC Youth League also held a march to Slade’s guest house. Racial discrimination and hate, illegal trading and tax evasion charges were opened against him.
An unrepentant Slade, who uses the Bible to justify his views, then told journalists he was the king of the earth and that he and his partner, Kizani, had a crown on their heads and black people did not have any.
His views were condemned by Tourism minister Derek Hanekom.
