|||Johannesburg - The University of Johannesburg (UJ) on Monday received a sponsorship of R2 million from First National Bank (FNB) towards their fundraising campaign “Missing Middle”.
The “Missing Middle” campaign was launched in February this year to assist academically deserving students who do not qualify for the National Student Finance Aid Scheme (NSFAS) and student loans and has raised over 70 million rand since then.
FNB CEO Public Sector Banking Kgosi Ledimo said they strongly believed in supporting educational programmes that focused on developing communities and investing in young minds.
“We are pleased to extend this support to UJ as the institution’s banking partner.”
University of Johannesburg Vice-Chancellor and principal, Professor Ihron Rensburg, said FNB’s investment in education at UJ would yield greater returns for South Africa’s future.
“This investment is testament that FNB supports the University’s commitment to shape and empower the country’s future leaders.”
