Over 8,400 people involved in Armenian governmental employment programs in Jan-June 2016

YEREVAN, August 17. /ARKA/. Over 8,400 people took part in the Armenian labor and social affairs ministry’s employment programs in Jan-June 2016, Artak Mangasaryan, chief of the state employment agency, said at a news conference on Wednesday. 

“This number makes up 8.8% of the total number of jobseekers,” he said. “As many as 580 participants of the programs are disabled people,” he said. 

In his words, 11 employment programs were implemented in 2016. 

In particular, 235 unemployed people, including 167 women, took part in the program providing salary compensations to the disabled and partial compensations to employers for employment of persons who are not competitive at labor market.  

Nine people, including six women, took part in the program supporting jobseekers in other residential areas. 

As many as 365 unemployed people, including 229 women, took part in a program providing lump-sum compensations to employers who have provided people who are not competitive at labor market with jobs.  

Some 582 people, including 347 women and 62 disabled people, were involved in the program providing professional education for the unemployed and those people who are under the threat of dismissal. 

The programs target people aged from 16 to 63. 

Mangasaryan said AMD 2.3 billion has been allocated for implementation of these programs. 

According to the Armenian labor and social affairs ministry, poverty rate subsided by two percent in 2015 to 30%. ($1 – AMD 475.69). --0---
