New details of Yerevan police regimen seizure investigation released

YEREVAN, August 16. /ARKA/. Armenia’s special investigation service released today new details in the investigation launched into the seizure of the police regiment compound in Yerevan on July 17.  

The seizure, preparations for mass unrest during the nationwide marking of the centenary of Armenian Genocide and detection of guns in the car of Zhirayr Sefilian, the leader of the Founding Parliament radical opposition movement, are consolidated into a single case.   

At the current stage of preliminary enquiry, charges are brought to 60 people, 50 of which are in pretrial detention, two are wanted and others are at large pending trial. 

They are charged with taking hostages, seizing buildings, transportation and communication means, organization of mass disorders and illegal purchase, sale and possession of arms and armament.
As many as 19 people are recognized affected in this case. 

According to the press release, the scene has been carefully examined, transcripts of telephone calls have been received, the information containing secret banking data has been requested and 75 people have been questioned. 

According to preliminary evidence, an ATM belonging to ACBA-CREDIT AGRICOLE BANKand located in the regiment compound has been broken and 14 million drams (29,500 US dollars) were taken from it. 
As many as five cars have been burned and 16 cars hurt.  

Three policemen killings are being investigated as well. ---0---
