President Sargsyan attends ceremony for construction of new Armenian embassy in Brazil

YEREVAN, August 15. /ARKA/.  President Serzh Sargsyan, who was on a working  visit to Brazil, attended last week  a ceremony  for the construction of a new building of the Armenian embassy in this country’s capital Brasilia.

The ceremony was attended by Brazil’s minister for external relations Jose Serra, foreign ambassadors, high-ranking diplomats and representatives of the Armenian community. The embassy’s total space will be 15,750 square meters.

Funds for the construction of the new building are provided by an activist of the local Armenian community and philanthropist Hilda Burmayan. The construction is scheduled for completion within 12 months. 

Addressing the present  Jose Serra  said the agreements which the sides  signed during this visit will even more strengthen the friendship and  bilateral relations that started back in 1992. ‘This ceremony must be the foundation for a new and future prosperous and promising relations between our countries”,  José Serra said in his speech. 

“Looking back on the past path, we can state that diverse ties have formed and strengthened in various fields between Armenia and Brazil. President Sargsyan’s visit, will surely be a productive foundation for the replenishment of our common agenda with promising initiatives, and qualitatively elevating the Armenia-Brazilian relations to a new level. We have all opportunities for Armenia and Brazil to even more strengthen the close ties between the two states and peoples based on friendship, respect and trust. This is the main message, which we will place in the new Embassy’s foundation in the presence of the President of Armenia”,  Armenia’s foreign minister Edward Nalbandian said. 

At the end of the ceremony a memorandum was signed and a capsule was placed in the foundation of the construction. -0-
