YEREVAN, August 11. /ARKA/. Russian President Valdimir Putin, responding to the statements that the supply of Russian weapons to Armenia is crippling, said that Moscow is always carrying out its commitments.

He said Wednesday at his joint news conference with Serzh Sargsyan, Armenian president, Russia has a program of working with Armenia in this direction.

“Armenia is a member of the Collective Security Treaty Organization and is our ally,” he said. “We have some commitments toward each other and Russia is always stuck to its commitments and is always carrying out them.”

Answering also a question about the procurement of abundant Russian arms by Azerbaijan, the Russian president said that nowadays any country can purchase any weapon from any other country, and Azerbaijan, a country with fast-growing economy, is able to buy arms wherever it wants.

Putin, however, said he would not concentrate his attention on the military aspect of the matter.

“If we want to solve the problem, we should do it by using peaceful means,” he said.

Asked to comment on the Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s statements about the expected cession of the territories surrounding Karabakh to the Azerbaijani side, he said that commenting on his colleagues’ words is not among his obligations.

“On the other side, everybody understands that when such a complicated process of alignment of stances and search of a compromise is under way all political and diplomatic means, including media resources, are applied in the course of this quite complicated work to word some claims, and I seen nothing extraordinary here – this is a usual practice,” the Russia president said adding that both Armenia and Azerbaijan want to find way out of the problem to live in peace, cooperate and develop their economies. --0----
