Russian president hopes Armenia and Azerbaijan will reach compromise on Karabakh problem
YEREVAN, August 11. /ARKA/. Russian President Vladimir Putin has expressed hope that Armenia and Azerbaijan will reach a compromise on Karabakh problem.
Speaking at a joint news conference after a meeting with his Armenian counterpart, Putin stressed that special attention has been paid to Karabakh conflict settlement at the meeting and the results of Armenia-Russia-Azerbaijan summit in St. Petersburg on June 20 and his recent meeting with the Azerbaijani president in Baku have been taken into account.
“I must stress that Russia is interested in easing tension between its neighbors,” he said adding that Russia, as one of OSCE Minsk Group mediators, will continue supporting the search of ways out of Karabakh deadlock. Putin said Russia will do this also using its direct contacts with Yerevan and Baku.
“We hope that Armenia and Azerbaijan will be able to reach a compromise – without winners and losers,” the Russian president said. ---0----
