Canada Thwarts 'Potential Terror Threat'
Canadian police have said an unspecified potential terror threat has been countered, without giving details.
A "lone wolf" was targeted by a successful police operation in Stranthoy, Ontario, located some 225 km south-west of Toronto, according to CBC news.
The TV station itself names the suspect as Aaron Driver, saying he was killed in confrontation with police and quoting his family as saying he was a supporter of the Islamic State (IS) group.
The development is "an unfolding matter and the investigation is still underway," according to t he Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
Driver, known to police, caught the attention of Canadian intelligence back in 2014 when he was tweeting support for IS.
