Bulgarian Customs Bust Illegal Filling Station near Nova Zagora
The customs authorities have dismantled an illegal filling station near Nova Zagora, in southern Bulgaria, the Customs Directorate has announced.
The customs officers found documents at the makeshift filling station which showed that the facility used to sell between 2,000 and 3,000 litres of diesel fuel a week, the Customs Directorate said in a statement on Wednesday.
The owner of the illegal filling station, in the area of Bogdanovo village, bought the diesel fuel from transiting truckers and stored it in nine barrels of 400 litres each in an abandoned power substation.
A litre of diesel fuel sells in a range from BGN 1.96 to BGN 2.02, or about one euro, at the licensed filling stations in Bulgaria at present.
