Ambassador commenting on Vladimir Zhirinovsky’s remarks about Armenia
YEREVAN, August 4. /ARKA/. Oleg Yesayan, Armenia’s ambassador to Russia, commenting on what Vladimir Zhirinovsky, the leader of Liberal Democratic Party of Russia, said about Armenia, noted that the latter has always been remarkable for politically absurd and unserious comments on various issues.
The thing is that the Russian politician, speaking for Life said that Yerevan will never retract Russia – otherwise there will be the end of Armenia.
“What is Armenia, and who cares of it?” he said.
Oleg Yesayan is quoted by the Armenian foreign ministry’s press office as saying that it would be wrong to consider Zhirinovsky’s remarks as Russia’s official stance.
In his opinion, the politician’s remarks are a part of his political survival, and he makes them in a bid to keep a high profile.
“It becomes especially obvious ahead of parliamentary elections in Russia,” Yesayan said. “ We have already presented our opinion about the eccentric member of the Russian Duma to Russia’s foreign ministry and have received appropriate explanations.” --0----
