YEREVAN, August 4. /ARKA/. Mnatsakan Marukhyan, the head of the Investigation Department of the National Security Service of Armenia was dismissed from his post, according to pastinfo.am.

Marukhyan is said to have been replaced with his deputy Michael Hambardzumyan. The latter also heads a team of investigators investigating a criminal case involving an armed group that was tracked down and arrested last November.

According to the National Security Service, members of this obscure militant group planned a coup d’etat. They plotted to seize the presidential palace and other key government buildings in Yerevan and even considered blowing up president Serzh Sargsyan’s aircraft. -0-
