‘No problem with capturing eThekwini #ElectionResults’

Concerns have been raised due to a delay in the release of results for the eThekwini metro on the IEC’s website, but the IEC says counting is on track.

Durban - Concerns were raised on Wednesday over a delay in the release of results for the eThekwini metro on the IEC’s website and at its results release.

The website and results board at the province’s main centre in Durban did not reflect any results for the municipality and there were suggestions that this was due to a “computer glitch”.

However IEC provincial operations manager Ntomb’futhi Masinga said there were no problems with capturing results for the municipality.

“There are only problems with stakeholders accessing the system here (at the results centre). The only other delay is between capturing and auditing the results.”

IEC provincial electoral officer Mawethu Mosery said eThekwini was the biggest municipality in the province.

Elections Bureau
