Kids celebrate end of summer

Banners decorated with rainbow handprints waved in the sun. Grins lit up the painted faces of hundreds of school-age kids wearing bandanas askew on their heads. Volunteers filled 5-gallon buckets with water and set aside dozens of bulging water balloons.
