Rustenburg – North West Local Government and Human Settlements MEC Galaletsang Gaolaolwe voted at her home village of Matloding, in the Ratlou local municipality on Tuesday.

“Your vote is your right and its the only way to bring about changes in your locality. Many of our leaders laid [down] their lives for us to have this right which we must make full use of,” she said in a statement after she cast her special vote.

“We are expecting to see voters of different ages in different voting stations tomorrow [Wednesday]. If you don’t vote you lose your power to shape the future. Your future is in your hands.”

Gaolaolwe appreciated the opportunity and encouraged communities in the province especially young people to vote.

Meanwhile, the outgoing Speaker of the Moses Kotane Local Municipality, Ralesole Diale, also cast his vote at Batlhalerwa Primary School in Tweelagte village on Tuesday.

The Electoral Commission of South Af (IEC) said it was confident that all preparations were in place for a free, fair and peaceful local government election on Wednesday.

“All that remains is for all 26.3 million registered voters to come out and cast their votes tomorrow,” the IEC said in a statement.

“The 22,612 voting stations will open for voting at 07h00 and close at 19h00. Of course, no voter will be turned away and voters who are at voting stations at 19h00 but have not yet had an opportunity to vote will be allowed to cast their ballots.”
