Twenty-five people injured in clashes still undergoing treatment at Yerevan hospitals

YEREVAN, August 1. /ARKA/. Seventeen citizens, including three policemen and two journalists are still undergoing treatment at Yerevan hospitals as of today, according to the ministry of health. They all got various injuries when the police broke up a demonstration held in support of gunmen who were occupying a police station in the Armenian capital on Friday. 

"Five persons were discharged from Yerevan hospitals. They are the ones who sought medical assistance after the clashes between police and demonstrators on Khorenatsi Street and Sari Tagh quarter on July 29,’ the ministry said in a statement.

Overall, according to the ministry of health, 25 people who suffered in clashes from July 17 are being treated at hospitals, including six policemen, two journalists and three members of the armed group. Five of them are still in intensive care units.

According to a local edition tert.am, the health of a well-known Armenian pop musician, Yeghishe Petrosian, who was among the demonstrators, has deteriorated sharply. According to his layer Yervand Petrosyan, the singer may get a stroke.

"Yesterday, his condition was worse than the day before. He is kept as arrested person being under around the clock police surveillance, according to the lawyer, who added that the singer had had a heart surgery. -0-
