Cher blamed an attempt to conform to Twitter’s 140 character-rule for her 'insensetive' tweet.

The singer was slammed for her use of a bomb and explosion emoji to express her condolences for the victims of the Turkey terrorist attack on Tuesday.

Her fans and followers were disappointed and quick to react, with one writing: ”@cher You need help; using emoji's like that for such a tragedy...SMH!” .

Another disgusted user, @gvemeabreak, wrote: “Really Cher? Bomb emojis? Grow up!” , “

The sentiment from @jusweelou was similar: “id say grow up (with the bomb emoji) but at your age what's the point! So bloody insensitive! (sic)”

The 70-year-old singer and actress apologised for the “insensitively timed” images she used in her tweet to honour those who lost their lives.

 

Her apology read: “Been thinking about my Poorly Placed, Insensitively Timed “bomb Emoji” . No Excuse [broken heart emoji] I'm Used 2 Using Emoji 2Help Say More Than 140 Letters. Sorry [crying face emoji],' she wrote.

Terrorists stormed Ataturk Airport on Tuesday, firing guns and detonating suicide vests, resulting in the deaths of at least 41 people.
