Armenia’s money supply grows by 0.01 percent in May to about 1.9 trillion drams
YEREVAN, June 30. /ARKA/. Armenia's money supply at the end of May 2016 increased by 0.01% from April to about 1.9 trillion drams, the National Statistical Service said citing preliminary data of the Central Bank of Armenia.
It said cash outside the banking system at the end of May grew to about 316.5 billion drams from nearly 309.9 billion drams at the end of April, while demand deposits (in drams) fell to 198.7 billion drams from about 199.6 billion drams at the end of April.
The amount of term deposits in Armenian drams grew to approximately 372.4 billion drams from 364.6 billion drams at the end of April. The amount of deposits in foreign currency fell to the equivalent of 981.1 billion drams from 994.6 billion drams at the end of April.
The money multiplier at the end of May is said to have amounted to 2.49, an increase of 0.3% when compared with April. ($ 1- 476.33 drams). AT -0-
