FTSE LIVE: Footsie and the pound hold good gains as rally from Brexit vote slump continues

By mid session, the FTSE 100 index was ahead 143.4 points, or 2.3 per cent at 6,282.8, albeit easing below the session peak of 6,301.47, having closed 2.6 per cent higher yesterday.
