KZN dad in dock for killing his children

Mkoniseni Mdlala allegedly stabbed his two young children, aged four and six, in the neck and chest while they were asleep.

Durban - A KwaZulu-Natal man appeared briefly in the Ladysmith Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday for allegedly killing his two young children.

National Prosecuting Authority spokeswoman Natasha Ramkisson-Kara said that the case against Mkoniseni Bernard Mdladla was postponed to June 29.

“He currently does not want legal aid nor does he want to apply for bail,” she said.

The man faces two counts of murder for allegedly killing his two children, aged four and six, on Monday night (May 30, 2016).

Police spokesman Shooz Magudulela said that it is alleged that Mdladla visited his ex-girlfriend’s house in the St Chad’s area of Ladysmith on Monday night when he found his children asleep.

“He stabbed the kids on the neck and stomach before fleeing the scene,” said Magudulela.

When the ex-girlfriend and her mother returned home, they found the children dead and reported the murders to the police who launched a search for the suspect.

He was arrested in the Ladysmith central business district on Tuesday.
