Security has become a central theme of the EU referendum. Even before the Brussels attacks the influx of refugees from Syria had stoked arguments over whether membership of the EU made the UK more or less secure. Some of those wanting to leave the EU irresponsibly tried to associate desperate refugees with terrorist acts actually committed by second generation immigrants.
