0
YEREVAN, April 27. /ARKA/. Vartan Oskanian, a former Armenian foreign minister, is forming the political party Unity and making necessary preparations for a founding congress, the initiative group members say in its statement.

In their words, this is a new political force that will seek substantial changes in Armenia's foreign policy.

In their opinion, they would be able 'to respond decently to all inside and outside challenges'.

According to the statement, the new party will seek international recognition of Karabakh's self-determination right.

«We see a huge potential for development of new high-quality relations with Russia, the European Union and the United States,» the statement says. «We also see the necessity of development of a new regional concept of cooperation with Georgia and Iran...»

The members of the group say the party will also seek changes in principles of cooperation with Armenian communities worldwide.

In their words, the new party will do whatever is necessary to return power to people without resorting to populist means and without dividing the authorities and the opposition into white and black.

The Unity will collaborate with all political parties which have something in common with it, they say.

«We will struggle for a just and strong Armenia, and this will be the key focus of our activity,» they declare.

The initiative group is made up of Vartan Oskanian himself, political analysts, MPs, one commander of militia unit, one psychologist, one movie director, one entrepreneur and one orientalist. --0-----
