Durban - Women in and around Glenwood are being warned of the presence of a new flasher in the area.

The Bulwer Community Safety Forum’s Heather Rorick said on Sunday there had been about five recent reports of a man exposing himself to visitors to the popular Bulwer Park and that he appeared to be operating in the mid morning.

Rorick said after the morning rush had died down, there were few men in the park but a number of housewives and mothers went there to walk or jog.

“He flashes to them as they go past,” she said.

There had also been reports of him sitting in the park, touching himself inappropriately and of him preying on elderly women.

His victims had not been able to describe him in detail, Rorick said.

“They’ve just been in such a state.”

Last year, there were similar reports involving a man ”with short dreadlocks, on a bicycle”.

Rorick said it was cause for concern but that it was not a daily occurrence.

“I’ve been there myself and I haven’t spotted him.”

Another flasher - who was not believed to be from the area - had been doing the rounds for some time, but unconfirmed reports suggest he might have been apprehended.

The man was known to drive around the Alan Paton (McDonald) Road area, in a silver Corsa and to venture into other areas in Durban south, including Sea-view and Bellair.

Police were not in a position to comment on Sunday.
