“We Are Writing The Final Act Now”: ‘Game Of Thrones’ Showrunners Talk The Road To The End

As fans continue to discuss everything that happened on the first episode of “Game Of Thrones” season six, they do so with the knowledge that the end is nigh. The showrunners have already teased they’ve got about thirteen episodes left to go before the saga in Westeros is finished, and they are underlining the fact that the series will be concluded in the not too distant future.

“We're approaching the finish line. From the outset, our hope was to tell a complete story — beginning, middle and end. We are writing the final act now, and the last thing we want to do is stay on stage after the play is over,” David Benioff and D.B. Weiss told THR.

The pair admit they saw the end on the horizon a few years back, when they met with author George R.R. Martin and knew the show would wind up outpacing the source material.
