European Minister attaches importance to creation of investigation mechanism

The President noted that during Azerbaijan's military aggression at early April, military servicemen of that country committed many crimes targeting also peaceful settlements and civilians.

Serzh Sargsyan informed that Azerbaijan continues to provoke the situation.

Harlem Désir reiterated friendly France's position on the settlement of Nagorno Karabakh conflict.

He highlighted that France is convinced, this conflict cannot be resolved by military means and is interested in resuming the negotiations for the sake of peaceful settlement of the issue.

The parties agreed that confidence building and mechanisms for monitoring the violations of ceasefire are necessary at this point, to prevent aggressive interventions and to make it possible to find mutually acceptable approaches for a settlement around the negotiating table.

In a meeting with Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian, Harlem Désir assured that France, as an OSCE Minsk Group co-chair, will continue to be actively involved in the peace process of Nagorno Karabakh.

The sides agreed that creation of investigation mechanism has become a priority.
