Pupil nabbed for fatal school stabbing
A 17-year-old pupil has been arrested and is facing charges of murder and assault, KZN police said.
|||Durban - A 17-year-old school pupil has been arrested and is facing charges of murder and assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm, KwaZulu-Natal police said in a statement on Thursday.
Police spokesperson Major Thulani Zwane said the teenager was arrested on Wednesday afternoon after he allegedly stabbed two fellow pupils earlier in the day.
A knife, believed to have been used in the attack, was also confiscated.
“Yesterday morning, 20 April 2016 at about 08:00, a group of boys had a fight at Nondinisa high school in Nsuze area outside Tongaat. The suspect allegedly produced a knife and fatally stabbed a 17-year-old grade 9 victim. Another victim, aged 18 years, sustained multiple stab wounds to the body. The suspect, who is also from the same school, fled the scene after the incident,” Zwane said.
The suspect is due to make his first appearance at the Nsuze Periodical Court on Thursday.
