The Colour Run which takes place in Soweto this weekend is set to attract runners from across Johannesburg.
|||Johannesburg – Joburg Tourism will be hosting the Colour Run in Soweto on Sunday, which will be attracting runners from across the City of Johannesburg.
Johannesburg Tourism’s Laura Vercueil on Friday said: “Soweto’s to do list offers a feast for all, from the rich heritage landmarks on Vilakazi Street and the Hector Pieterson Memorial and Museum to bungee jumping off the Orlando Towers and exploring the local taste delicacies on offer at Wandies”.
The race would present an ideal opportunity for participants to plan a day out and explore and experience the heritage and lifestyle attractions of Soweto, said Vercueil.
“The Color Run will be attracting participants from across Johannesburg and we encourage them to enjoy and experience some of the rich cultural and lifestyle attractions in and around Soweto either before or after the event,” Vercueil said.
She said that Joburg Tourism had compiled exciting inventories and outing ideas listings that were tailored to suit each person’s interest, budget and time availability.
“To find out more about what to see and do in and around Soweto, visit and explore the extensive day trip ideas on Joburg Tourism’s website at www.joburgtourism.com,” she said.
The Color Run is the first to be hosted in Soweto and Vercueil said participants are in for an amazing fun-filled untimed 5km run. Partcipants are advised to wear white clothes, she said.
“At each kilometre mark, coloured powder will fill the air and cover participants, creating an ever increasing rainbow spectrum. At the finish line, a festival of dazzling colour welcomes participants who then join in the colour-throwing fun,” she said.
Local band, The Soil, will entertain participants from 9am until the starting gun goes off 10am.
