Christopher McQuarrie To Direct 'Edge Of Tomorrow' Sequel, Work On Script Underway

0

Even with megastar Tom Cruise selling the movie, audiences had a trouble grasping the concept of "Edge Of Tomorrow," which opened at number three during the summer of 2014. And while the picture eked its way to $100 million domestic, it did nearly three times that overseas, and home video has certainly helped the sci-fi flick earn some greater appreciation. Talk of a follow-up has brewing for a while now, and the wheels are finally in motion.

Deadline reports that Cruise's bud Christopher McQuarrie ("Valkyrie," "Jack Reacher," "Mission: Impossible — Rogue Nation"), who co-wrote the first film, will be back to direct, with Joe Shrapnel and Anna Waterhouse ("Race") writing the script. But undoubtedly they will be getting some input from McQuarrie, who last summer was saying the follow-up would be easier for the studio to work with from a promotional point-of-view.
