FTSE LIVE: Commodity stocks lead Footsie rally as oil prices recover; pound holds firm despite weak data

The FTSE 100 was ahead 35.0 points, or 0.6 per cent at 6,171.8, with Brent crude up over 2 per cent to $40.29 a barrel after economic indicators from the US and Germany implied demand for fuel.
