A woman who repeatedly rammed her car into pedestrians in Las Vegas has tested positive for marijuana.
|||Las Vegas - A woman who repeatedly rammed her car into pedestrians in Las Vegas, killing one and injuring scores, has been tested positive for marijuana, officials said Wednesday.
Lakeisha Holloway - whose three-year-old daughter was with her during the December 20 incident - has been charged with murder and child abuse.
Witnesses described a scene of mayhem as the 24-year-old repeatedly drove her car onto the sidewalk along the busy Las Vegas Strip, smashing into pedestrians who unsuccessfully tried to stop her.
After the rampage, she drove to a nearby hotel and asked a valet parking attendant to call the emergency services.
“The toxicology examination of Lakeisha Holloway, the woman accused of a fatal crash on Las Vegas Boulevard earlier this month, is complete,” the Clark County District Attorney's Office said.
“The report shows that Ms Holloway tested positive for marijuana and marijuana metabolites,” the statement added.
Holloway had told police she was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
“There is no reasonable explanation or excuse for the actions of this defendant,” Clark County District Attorney Steve Wolfson said.
More than 30 people were hurt in the early evening incident, which occurred as the Las Vegas Strip - a popular tourist spot - was bustling with activity.
