Johannesburg - Two suspects, who allegedly killed their three cousins and a baby before placing their bodies in a bath tub full of boiling water, made a brief appearance in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday before the matter was postponed to next year.

Eyewitness News (EWN) reported that the pair made a brief appearance in the morning in connection with the murders two weeks ago.

The suspects appeared on charges of murder and attempted murder, reported EWN.

The two suspects, aged 17 and 21, allegedly attacked their cousins – Lerato Letswalo (18), Priska Movit (23) and her six-month-old baby Bokamoso Movit at their Katlehong home on the East Rand, where they stole laptops and other items.

The sole survivor of the horrific attack, 22-year-old Nthabiseng Letswalo, recalled after the attack how she lay on the floor and pretended to be dead after she had been stabbed.

When the suspects turned their backs on her, she said she jumped up from the floor, grabbed an iron rod that was nearby and beat the suspects until they fled.

She managed to alert the neighbours who assaulted and apprehended the suspects. They were beaten so badly they had to be hospitalised.

The pair made their first appearance in court on December 15 after they were discharged from hospital.

The suspects, who were remanded in custody, will be back in court on 6 January 2016. The teenager is being held at a juvenile centre.

The deceased were buried at the weekend.
