Daphne Bramham: A Vancouver neighbourhood opens its heart to refugees

Neighbourhood associations by their very nature are inward looking. They’re supposed to promote their own interests, protect what they have and advocate for what they want. So it’s not surprising that when Kathleen MacKinnon went to the False Creek Residents Association last May proposing it pull together to sponsor a Syrian family, she was met with lots of questions and a bit of skepticism.
