Level of wear and tear of energy infrastructure in Armenia is 60 per cent - ENA Director General

YEREVAN, October 4. /ARKA/. The current level of depreciation of the electric power infrastructure managed by the national power distribution company Electric Networks of Armenia (ENA) is 60%, ENA CEO Karen Harutyunyan said in an interview with the Public Television./pp ‘In 2015, when Tashir Group of Companies acquired ENA, the degree of its wear and tear was 80 per cent,’ Harutyunyan noted./pp

He informed that, in particular, 41 substations with 110/35 kV voltage, about 1500 low-voltage substations, as well as overhead and cable power lines with a length of about 8500 km have been reconstructed./pp ‘In the near future, 35/110 kV substations in Gyumri and Spitak will be put into operation, which will increase the reliability of power supply in the regions. Next month 35 kV substation in Tsakhkadzor will be put into operation,’ Harutyunyan said./pp

The company said earlier it planned to raise the total investment in the power grid to AMD 461 billion by 2030 to improve service quality, ensure reliable and uninterrupted power supply, connect new subscribers to the network./pp

Electric Networks of Armenia CJSC is a part of Tashir Group of Companies, which is owned by Samvel Karapetyan, a businessman of Armenian origin based in Russia. ENA manages medium- and low-voltage distribution networks in Armenia, serving 1 million subscribers in the country.-0-/p
