ENA plans to rule out power cuts in the centre of Yerevan

YEREVAN, 26 September. /ARKA/. Modernisation of the power network in the centre of Yerevan was discussed at the meeting of Mayor Tigran Avinian with Karen Darbinyan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Electrical Networks of Armenia (ENA) and Karen Harutyunyan, General Director of the company./pp

The Mayor was presented a plan of modernisation of the existing power network in the 31st street of the city centre (145 thousand subscribers) with the introduction of a new system, which will exclude power outages in the mentioned area./pp

Accordingly, a network with power sources from two directions should be created, the press service of the mayor's office reports./pp

The initiative involves systemic reform of the existing system, including the installation of new distribution networks and substations. In particular, for safety reasons, 23 transformer substations, which have been located on the ground floors of residential buildings since Soviet times, will be dismantled and placed in separate buildings constructed for this purpose. A further 31 substations will be modernised and adapted to modern requirements./pp

ENA plans to invest about AMD 6.7 billion in the implementation of the aforementioned programme within 2-3 years. Avinian welcomed the idea, assuring that the municipality is ready to support its smooth implementation within its authority./pp/pp
