The Northern Fleet frigate "Admiral Golovko" during a ship's air defense exercise has hit an aircraft-type strike unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) heading for the ship in the Barents Sea. This was reported on September 24 in the press service of the Northern Fleet.

The combat exercise was carried out by the Poliment-Redut vertical launch sea-based anti-aircraft missile system. A flying target imitating a UAV was launched from the coast of the Kola Peninsula. The firing itself was conducted in the combat training ranges of the Northern Fleet in the Barents Sea. The areas of the exercise were timely closed to shipping and civil aviation flights.

The exercise involved calculations of the navigational, missile-artillery and radio-technical combat units of the frigate. The quality and speed of target designation, target acquisition and escort were evaluated.

Earlier, on September 20, the Sovetsk and Zeleny Dol small missile ships conducted conditional launches of Kalibr cruise missiles against sea and coastal targets of a conditional enemy during exercises in the Baltic Sea. The exercises were conducted as planned. The conditional missile strike was carried out against targets that simulated detachments of enemy warships.
