Hrazdan TPP comments on smelter explosion, refuting regulator

In an official comment on an explosion at the smelter at Hrazdan TPP that killed an employee and injured five others, the TPP said the explosion of an air cylinder on September 10 took place in a workshop under construction, which has not yet been put into final operation./pp ‘This, unfortunately, resulted in the death of a person, several employees were injured to varying degrees of severity, the press service of Hrazdan TPP reported.nbsp;/pp

As for the statement of the authorized inspection body, published a few hours after the incident that a negative conclusion had been issued twice for the smelter located on the territory of the Hrazdan TPP, according to the conclusion on the delivery of the completed construction, submitted by the inspection body on July 23, 2024, no violations or deficiencies were found./pp

The TPP also said that the facility has not yet been put into final operation; it is at the testing stage. The final commissioning of the facility is scheduled for the end of 2024./pp

On the eve, the Inspectorate for Urban Development, Technical and Fire Safety announced that it had twice issued a negative conclusion “regarding the illegally operated smelter at the Hrazdan Thermal Power Plant,” where the explosion occurred.-0-/pp/pp nbsp;/p
