Armenia, USAID expand cooperation agreement, doubling grant to $250 Million

YEREVAN, September 11. /ARKA/. Armenia's Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan and John Allelo, Director of USAID’s Armenia Mission, signed an amendment to the bilateral development cooperation grant agreement between Armenia and the United States, according to a government press release./pp

The amendment increased the grant funding from $120 million to $250 million, more than doubling the original amount. It also expands the scope of joint projects to include critical areas such as disaster risk management, cybersecurity, food and energy security, regional cooperation and trade, democratic processes, and inclusive economic development./pp

Grigoryan highlighted the importance of not only the financial support but also the democratic values and innovative ideas that the partnership fosters. The investments from these programs have enabled us to implement fundamental reforms and improve the quality of life for our citizens, he said./pp

Allelo emphasized the significance of the expanded collaboration: This change reflects our commitment to partnering with Armenia. By increasing our support and broadening our programs, we are helping Armenia to grow and succeed./pp

On September 5, the Armenian government approved an additional $130 million from USAID to enhance the efficiency of public administration./pp br/p
