YEREVAN, September 6. /ARКА/. Iranian Ambassador to Armenia Mehdi Sobhani once again reiterated his country's strong objection to the so-called Zangezur corridor that would connect Azerbaijan with its Nakhchivan exclave through the southern Armenian region of Syunik, which borders Iran./pp

The so-called Zangezur corridor cannot become a reality. The dreams that some see about Armenia, including the so-called corridor, will not become a reality. I emphasize once again that Iran supports the territorial integrity, national sovereignty and independence of Armenia, and its territorial integrity is a red line for us, Sobhani told reporters in Yerevan on Friday, Tert.am reports./pp

On the possible transfer of control over the road to a private security company, Sobhani said that Iran is against this road being controlled by representatives of other countries. He said that all events related to this road should be within the framework of Armenia’s sovereignty./pp “Any control should be on the part of the Republic of Armenia, and we are against people from other countries coming here and trying to ensure security and control,” the ambassador noted./pp
