Birth rate in Armenia decreased by 7.6% in 7 months

YEREVAN, September 5. /ARKA/. Armenia's birth rate dropped by 7.6% in January-July 2024 compared to the same period in 2023, according to numbers, released by the National Statistical Committee (NSC)./pp
The decline in the birth rate has been recorded in Armenia since January of this year. Some 18,632 babies were born during the reporting period, down from 20,157 births reported in the first seven months of 2023./pp
At the same time, 227 stillbirths were registered during the specified period, which is 9.7% more than in the same period in 2023./pp
Overall, 15,166 people died in the country in January-July 2024, which is 6.3% more than in the same period in 2023./pp
