Yerevan power system re-equipment programme estimated at AMD 6.3 bln - ENA General Director

YEREVAN, 4 September. /ARKA/. Armenia's national energy distribution company Electrical Networks of Armenia (ENA) is implementing a project worth AMD 6.3 billion aimed at technical re-equipment and modernisation of Yerevan's energy system, ENA General Director Karen Harutyunyan told a press conference./pp
According to him, the funds will be used to replace cables between 11 substations, reconstruct all transformer substations and replace them with new, more modern two-transformer substations, as well as lay about 42,000 metres of new cables./pp
Harutyunyan said that the replacement of cables will be carried out mainly in the capital's administrative district of Kentropn (Centre). The work will start within 10 days and should be completed by the end of 2025./pp
He said Yerevan residents will see improvements in a very short time. 'Of course, there may be traffic problems on the streets of the capital due to the construction work and we apologise for that,’ Harutyunyan said./pp
He stated that in the end, in a few years the centre of Yerevan will be provided with a quality and reliable power supply network./pp
In his turn, ENA Chairman of the Board of Directors Karen Darbinyan noted that compared to 2020, the energy load on the centre of the capital has increased 8-9 times. This is, in particular, due to a noticeable increase in construction volumes./pp
Over the last 3 years ENA has received 68 thousand applications for connection of new subscribers. Of these, 40.1 thousand subscribers have already been connected to the network, and the remaining 28 thousand are under construction./pp 'We assume that by the end of 2025 the number of applications from new subscribers will reach 75 thousand,’ Darbinyan said./pp
