Armenian government approves $200m loan for Kajaran Tunnel construction

YEREVAN, August 15. /ARKA/. The Armenian government has approved a $200 million loan agreement with the Eurasian Fund for Stabilization and Development (EFSD) for the construction of the Kajaran Tunnel in the Syunik province on Thursday./pp

The project aims to enhance the capacity for transit transportation and reduce accidents along the North-South transport corridor./pp

A tunnel approximately 7 kilometers long will be constructed near the town of Kajaran. Additionally, around 4 kilometers of the Yerevan-Yeraskh-Goris-Meghri highway leading to the Iranian border will be reconstructed, including the section leading into the Kajaran Tunnel, which will connect with the planned new Sisiаn-Kajaran road./pp
