Armenia reduces maximum duty-free import of goods by land border and mail

YEREVAN, August 8. /ARКА/. On Thursday, the Armenian government approved a decision to reduce the maximum duty-free import of goods by land border and by mail from 500 euros to 200 euros./pp

Previously, goods worth up to 500 euros and weighing up to 25 kg could be imported duty-free./pp

Now, the amount has been reduced to 200 euros and the weight to 10 kg. The threshold for postal parcels has been reduced to 200 thousand drams and 31 kg respectively./pp

The stricter rules were adopted based on reports of shuttle trade from Georgia, the turnover of which, according to the State Revenue Committee of Armenia, is expected to be reduced by at least half as a result of the decision. -0-/p
