YEREVAN, 24 July. /ARKA/. Full transition to the new single ticketing system on public transport in Yerevan will start from 1 January 2025, Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinian said at a press conference on Wednesday./pp

According to him, the so-called ‘trial phase’ of the system is currently underway./pp ‘We are considering and solving existing problems before the full transition to the new system. It will be possible to buy tickets through terminals. It will also be possible to buy a ticket or pay with a bank card directly using the system. It will also be possible to use ticket cards. We want to bring this system to full readiness to make sure that everything works, t5hat all the problems are solved before we introduce the new system next year,’ Avinyan said./pp

Commenting on the increase or decrease of the fare due to the introduction of the new system, Avinyan said that this system has a completely different logic. For those who frequently use public transport, the fare will be much cheaper, while for those who use transport infrequently, the price will certainly be higher./pp 'However, we can confidently say that despite certain difficulties at present, the introduction of the unified ticketing system will lead to significant reforms in this sphere,’ Avinyan said.nbsp;nbsp;/pp

A pilot project to introduce a unified ticketing system on public transport was implemented in September 2023. As part of the main programme, special equipment (terminals for selling tickets by QR code) was installed in buses, trolleybuses and metro. --0--/p
