Durban - Two murders in three days have sent shock waves through Dundee, in northern KwaZulu-Natal.

Businessman, Nazir Mohammed, 55, owner of Andrew’s Autolot, was beaten to death on Thursday, moments after he opened for business. Police spokesman, Major Thulani Zwane, said he was fatally assaulted by an unknown man in McKenzie Street.

On Tuesday, Abdul Satter, 49, was shot dead outside Soni Flats in Bulwer Street.

Zwane said the motives were unknown and no arrests had been made.

Endumeni Local Municipality councillor, Anthon Raubenheimer, said: “The businessman’s death occurred around the corner from my office.

“I have been advocating for years for CCTV cameras to be installed in the central business district to deter criminals.”
