Barcelona defender Pique defends Cheryshev, but...
Real face being thrown out of the competition after fielding the ineligible Denis Cheryshev for victory over Cadiz.
"I was watching a stand-up act by [Spanish comedian] Leo Harlem. Only joking. You know what I'm like. People shouldn't make such a drama out of it. I found it funny and that's as far as it goes," said Pique.
"I'd like to send my support to Cheryshev. He's a professional and I hope the matter is resolved promptly."
Piqué went on to suggest that players usually remember when they're suspended: "I recall being shown my fifth yellow card one year against Atlético, in the last league match of the season. That meant I wouldn't be able to play in the first round the next season, and I knew that."
He added: "I'm a curious guy so I called the club to find out. It's up to match delegate Carlos Naval. I don't know who handles it at Real Madrid, but they've got a lot of staff on their books."
