Road cross

This image was taken at Karathivu — Ampara Road on 2023.04.02. The elephants are used to cross the paddy field and the roads after paddy harvesting during two seasons in a year searching their food.
Due to the rapid growth of human and elephant populations, both struggle to share limited land and water resources. The major causes and contexts of human — elephant conflict in Sri Lanka include land use pattern change, habitat loss due to human population growth, paddy harvesting timeline, elephant movement path along the agricultural land.
