Durban - The Economic Freedom Fighters will hold a press conference in Pietermaritzburg on Wednesday to brief the media on their plans to forge ahead with their private prosecution of KZN businessman Thoshan Panday.

The Daily News has confirmed that EFF MPL Vukani Ndlovu has forwarded a letter of appeal to KZN Director of Public Prosecutions, Moipone Noko, demanding a ‘nolle prosequi’ certificate in respect of all criminal charges against Panday that the state has previously declined to prosecute.

The party has given Noko until October 31 to present the certificate.

The certificate is a formal notice of abandonment by the prosecutor of all charges against Panday. The EFF requires this certificate before it can legally pursue its own prosecution.

Panday hit the headlines in 2010 when he allegedly inflated hotel room prices for police guests during the World Cup.
